Decided to do the writer's room meme. And only about a month after it went out of style!
I actually use my laptop most of the time, but because I don't really have a space for that, I decided to take a picture of the desktop computer. Also, the desktop computer has a printer and a Hebrew/English keyboard, so I use that one for most writing, anyway.
^_^
( Life feels so much slower with your toothbrush by the mirror, can I make it any clearer? )

Not to offend any Mac fans here, but am I the only one who thinks the new MacBook Air looks like it could be snapped in half like a Girl Scout thin mint?
Here's a vid that goes more in-depth. *boggles* Look at the crazy little thing on the table next to that man. You almost feel sorry for it.
Now, of course, the Air has some nice features. The new trackpad looks cool---definitely a nice touch, and Apple's always been great with nice touches.
Still, it's 0.16 inches tall, reaching only 0.76 inches at its maximum height? Excuse me? Was the demand for more sleek, thin, prententious flashy notebooks really that high??
*shakes head* Anyway, congrats on your technological breakthrough, Apple. I'm sure people won't care that your device DOESN'T HAVE A CD DRIVE, ohhh, no, of course not.
If anyone on the f-list plans on buying one of these things, let me know how it turns out? [Not that there won't be a million product reviews available within the next week.]
*nods fitfully and hugs sturdy, traditional Dell that was less than half the price of MacBook Air---and that's WITH a CD drive.*

I wasn't technically tagged, but why should that stop me? Snagged from

The rules are easy, just post 10 things that recently made you happy! Then tag 10 people and force them to post this meme on their LJs. Because it is good. Everyone needs a little happiness once in a while.
In no particular order:
1. I finally bought John Harland's Seamanship In the Age of Sail [rec'd to me by
alex_beecroft almost a year ago]. It shouldn't have taken me as long as it did, but I'm not made of money, and that book was not cheap. Still, I'm SO happy I bought it. I feel like maybe I'm actually starting to understand this whole Age of Sail business.
^_^
2. The semester student rank list was published, and I am officially the top of my 371-student class. *nerdy, happy dance* [Probably says more about my school than it does about me, but I don't care.]
3. My lovely boyfriend Nathan and I have been together for four months. Exceeded my prediction by about, oh, three months, three weeks, and six days.
4. Rachel Maddow *might* be getting her own show on MSNBC? I think? Is that still on the table? God, I love her.
5.
charmingsadist and I have started talking more. I'm glad---we're both busy people, but I had been missing her like hell.
6. The comm
mac_hearts_pc. I love tiny, happy, bizarre fandoms. Especailly ones that involve John Hodgman.
7. I ate about a million baby carrot sticks this afternoon. [They tried to turn me gay.]
8. Speaking of baby carrots, JON STEWART AND STEPHEN COLBERT ARE BACK. I wish the strike would end, but at least the boys can share their wisdom again.
9. I have officially mastered Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. Which is impressive, for someone with the musical talents of a cup of dirt.
10. Playing with my dog in the snow.
Hooray for happy memes! :D
Tagging: Anyone.

My Yuletide writer rules.
*jumps around* I received the most lovely, well-written Jon/Stephen fic at the Yuletide reveal today!
Go read it (and leave feedback for my awesome mystery writer) HERE.
We're allowed to do that, right? Post links to stories before the author reveal?
Oi v'voi, I'm so uncouth.
Anyway, Merry Christmas, everyone, and I hope everyone else who participated in Yuletide had fun!

I just finished my fic for
yuletide (with less than three hours to spare)! So here's a meme in celebration.
1. Leave me a casual comment of no particular significance, like a lyric to your current favorite song, your favorite kind of sandwich, or maybe your favorite game. Any remark, meaningless or not.
2. I will respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better.
3. Update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. Include this explanation and offer to ask someone else in your own post.
5. When others respond with a desultory comment, you will ask them five questions.

1. Go to the Wikipedia home page and click random article. That is your band's name.
2. Click random article again; that is your album name.
3. Click random article 15 more times; those are the tracks on your album.
( OH MY GOD WE'RE HAVING A FIRE... sale. )

So, I have a new blog on WordPress.com.
Exciting, no?
I'm keeping this account, of course---I'll always be a livejournal fan through and through. (I'll keep posting fic here, too, even though LJ's new content flagging policies have me a little unnerved about posting slash.)
Anyway, my new blog is HERE, and will probably just contain things like book reviews and political speculation.
Anyone else have a WordPress account? I'd love to add more people to my blogroll. (And if you haven't checked out WordPress, it's worth it---I think it's a very well-organized site.)

1. Reply to this post, and I will pick seven of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) and talk about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts.
4. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee. Whoo!
